The Hormonal Shift

Know yourself. Speak up. Feel supported.

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 2, 2026

The Hormonal Shift is a browser-based symptom and cycle tracker designed to help adults record changes they have noticed, review their history, and create a summary for their own reference or healthcare appointments.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use The Hormonal Shift.

1. Who operates The Hormonal Shift

The Hormonal Shift is operated by Optika Media.

2. Tracker information you choose to enter

The tracker may process information you choose to enter, including:

  • symptoms you have noticed;
  • how much a symptom is bothering you;
  • how often you notice a symptom;
  • period or cycle changes;
  • timeframe information;
  • symptoms you identify as priorities;
  • optional cycle notes;
  • optional personal notes; and
  • histories, comparisons, charts, and summaries created from the information you entered.

Your tracker check-ins are processed in your browser and saved locally in that browser on that device.

The Hormonal Shift does not maintain a central health-profile database containing your tracker check-ins.

Your saved check-ins do not automatically follow you to another browser or device. Clearing browser data may remove them. The tracker provides Backup, Restore, and Print / Save PDF tools so you can keep or move your own information.

3. Health-data consent

Before using tracker features that process symptom, cycle, or other health-related information, you may be asked to provide explicit consent.

A limited consent record may be stored in your browser. It contains:

  • a consent-record version;
  • the date and time consent was given; and
  • the applicable policy version.

The consent record does not contain your symptoms, notes, name, email address, payment details, or purchase history.

Health-data consent is stored separately from both your purchaser-access information and your tracker check-ins.

4. Purchase and access information

Purchases are processed through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record for the transaction.

Lemon Squeezy may process information needed to complete purchases, issue receipts, calculate applicable taxes, prevent fraud, provide payment support, and generate license keys.

The Hormonal Shift uses a license key as an access code to confirm purchaser access.

Your browser may store limited access information needed to keep the tracker available on that browser or device, such as your access code, license instance information, and the date access was last verified.

Purchaser-access information is kept separate from symptom and check-in records.

We do not connect your purchase email address or payment information to your symptom history.

5. Information you send to support

If you contact us, we may receive information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, message, screenshots, or other information included in your request.

Please avoid sending symptom histories, Visit Summaries, or other sensitive health information by email unless it is necessary for the support issue you are asking us to investigate.

If you voluntarily include health information in a support request, that information may be processed as part of responding to your request.

6. Technical information

Our website, hosting providers, security infrastructure, and related service providers may process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as:

  • IP address;
  • browser or device information;
  • timestamps;
  • request information; and
  • security or error information.

We do not use symptom selections, cycle entries, notes, check-in history, or other tracker health information to create advertising profiles or audiences.

We do not use tracker health information for targeted advertising.

7. How information is used

Information may be used as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide and operate The Hormonal Shift;
  • verify purchaser access;
  • provide the tracker features you request;
  • respond to customer-support requests;
  • maintain service security and reliability;
  • prevent fraud or misuse;
  • comply with accounting, tax, legal, or regulatory obligations; and
  • protect legal rights where reasonably necessary.

The Hormonal Shift does not use your tracker entries to diagnose perimenopause, determine the cause of symptoms, or provide medical advice.

8. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell your tracker symptom or check-in information.

Because tracker check-ins are designed to remain in your browser, we do not routinely receive or disclose those check-ins to third parties.

Other information may be processed by service providers that help operate the business, including:

  • Lemon Squeezy for checkout, payment, tax, receipts, licensing, refunds, and order-related services;
  • email providers for support communications;
  • website hosting, security, infrastructure, and technical-service providers; and
  • professional advisers where reasonably necessary.

We may also disclose information where required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, security issues, legal claims, or lawful governmental requests.

9. Retention

Tracker check-ins remain in the browser on your device until you delete them, clear the relevant browser storage, or otherwise remove them.

Purchaser-access information remains in browser storage until it is cleared, replaced, or removed through access-management functionality.

The health-data consent record remains in browser storage until it is withdrawn, cleared, replaced, or superseded by a later consent version.

Support, purchase, accounting, tax, and business records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which they were collected and to meet legal or business obligations.

Purchase and payment records maintained by Lemon Squeezy are subject to Lemon Squeezy's own retention practices and legal obligations.

10. Your choices and rights

The tracker provides tools to:

  • review saved check-ins;
  • create a backup;
  • restore a compatible backup;
  • copy or print a Visit Summary; and
  • delete tracker check-ins from the browser.

Deleting tracker data does not cancel or delete your purchase entitlement.

Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights relating to personal information, including rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain certain information.

You may contact us at:

support@thehormonalshift.com

Some requests may require reasonable identity verification and may be subject to legal exceptions.

11. United Kingdom users

Where United Kingdom data-protection law applies, health information is treated as special-category personal data.

For health information necessary to provide the tracker service you requested, our Article 6 lawful basis is generally performance of the contract, and our Article 9 condition is explicit consent.

Other processing may rely on applicable legal obligations or legitimate interests, such as service security, fraud prevention, and protecting legal rights, where permitted by law.

You may have rights under UK data-protection law, including rights relating to access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent.

You may also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

12. Children

The Hormonal Shift is intended for adults.

It is not designed for or directed to children.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information associated with the service.

No method of electronic storage, browser storage, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

If a security incident affects information for which notification is legally required, we will provide notifications as required by applicable law.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our service, practices, or legal obligations change.

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide additional notice or request renewed consent where required.
